Welcome to Cranky Bikes, independent bike repairs based in Malvern, Worcestershire.
Cranky Bikes was started by myself, Mark Russell in May 2020, during lockdown restrictions related to the Covid-19 pandemic.
I’m a passionate cyclist, mostly road cycling and gravel biking but not adverse to a little mountain biking. I also have a collection of novelty bicycles including many unicycles, a stilts bike and a penny farthing. These bikes are used in my other job which is a circus skills entertainer. All types of bicycles are welcome at Cranky Bikes. I repair road bikes, mountain bikes, gravel bikes, hybrids, tourers, kids bikes and unicycles! I also work on the mechanical aspects of electric bikes.
Cranky Bikes doesn’t sell bikes; Cranky Bikes is not an actual bike shop with items for sale, I just repair, service and upgrade bicycles from my home workshop. I do however keep a stock of items for carrying out servicing and repairs including tyres, inner tubes, cables, grips, chains, cassettes, freewheels, bearings etc etc. Some wheels are also kept in stock, Cranky Bikes supplies & fits economy wheelsets as well as quality hand built wheels from Pacenti ( https://pacenticycledesign.co.uk ).
Service is by appointment, please get in touch to arrange a convenient time for you to drop off your bicycle. For local customers unable to transport their bike to me, I offer a pick up & drop off service.
Cranky Bikes holds public liability insurance and is a City & Guilds level 2 qualified bicycle mechanic.
Servicing, repairs & upgrades
Cranky bikes provides minor repairs to full bicycle services.
Repairs provided include gears adjustment & indexing, brakes servicing (mechanical & hydraulic), Wheel truing, headset servicing, bottom bracket replacement, wheel hub bearing replacement, accessory fitting, bike cleaning and much more.
Customers are given an estimate cost before work is started.
Bicycles brought in for particular repairs will also undergo a free inspection to ensure safety and to offer advice on repairs that may be needed.
Cranky Bikes are happy to provide advice and carry out upgrades to your bike. Upgrades might include new improved wheelsets, clip in pedals, better braking or fitting lower gear ratios to make cycling uphill that bit easier.
